About Cubit Artguitar
My artworks are small mixed media assemblage pieces using many found objects and are highly visionary in nature. The materials used are often discarded hardware and recycled objects. My Devil, Revelation XII and Sacrifice sculptures are small colorful sculptures made of driftwood, shells, toothpicks, feathers, beads, wire, paint and other materials. Spiritual God depicts the progression of humanity in sculpture form. I love the arts in whatever medium it may be; music, theater, dance etc; and I believe in religion, mysticism, the secret meaning of the unknown and art as a universal means of communication.

DOROT – Generations Helping Generations

Vision, Mission and Values Statement

For more than three decades, DOROT has been an innovative leader in the fields of aging services and volunteerism. Building upon this success, we initiated a strategic planning process with the overriding goal of strengthening our ability to carry out our core mission.
The strategic plan, adopted by DOROT’s Board of Directors in March 2011, is guided by the Vision, Mission and Values as set forth below. The Mission Statement highlights DOROT’s belief that reducing social isolation, along with providing concrete services, has a powerful effect on improving the lives and health of older adults. In revising the Mission Statement, we wanted to give more prominence to the intent that underlies all we do, and emphasize the real impact our programs have on enabling seniors to live with dignity, independence and improved health in the community. In an era of concern over rapidly rising health care costs and a nation that is rapidly aging, our work will have increasing importance.
Vision
DOROT will be an innovative leader in mobilizing volunteers of all ages to improve the lives and health of the elderly, addressing the challenges of an aging society.
Mission
DOROT alleviates social isolation among the elderly and provides services to help them live independently as valued members of the community. We serve the Jewish and wider community, bringing the generations together in a mutually beneficial partnership of elders, volunteers and professionals. Our work provides an effective model for others.
Values

  1. Jewish Communal Responsibility
Affirming our commitment to honor the older members of the community, by bringing the generations together
  2. Commitment to Excellence
Upholding the highest of standards in all that we do
  3. Compassion
Connecting personally with sensitivity and concern to provide exceptional care
  4. Making a Difference
Having a demonstrable impact in the lives of the people we serve
  5. Integrity
Being worthy of the trust of all our constituents
  6. Innovation
Being dedicated to learning and to creatively addressing the evolving needs of the elder and volunteer communities

About Clemon Zobo:Chef-Clemon-Zobo
As a man growing in a house full of women in Africa (Côte d’Ivoire) cooking or being a chef was not on the radar – it took me over 8000 miles of travel and landing here in the USA to know that this was actually my calling – it is my passion. I feel blessed, there was no better place for me to have followed my passion than in NYC which has given me exposure to a variety of cuisines – I have over the years developed a unique style of cooking and an eye for cooking that brings to focus many different cuisines from French, Asian, Italian and more. chicken-yassa
I started as a dishwasher in one of the most prestigious restaurants in new York –  I saw some of the best chefs in the world at work. Then I told myself, the light came on in my head and I said this is what i want to do. I got my opportunity as a prep cook and started learning the technics of cooking – expand on this. I worked my way up and learnt various techniques of cooking. after many years of apprenticeship i got a chance to work with marcus samuelson for over 4 years. I learnt a very different technique of cooking while working with marcus samuelsson – I still use some of those techniques till now.

I now specialize in authentic Africa cuisine and fusion cuisine. I believe the African cusinie has not been properly represented and presented  – my mission is help make african cuisine one of the most appreciated in the world. when I am away from the kitchen I to spend time with my two lovely kids.

Stories have always been what brought things together for Charlene (“Charlie” for short). Born in Liberia and having to flee due to civil war, as a child she relied heavily on the stories and pictures her family shared with her to learn about the world they had left behind. She grew up in Providence, R.I., where she loved writing, listening to people’s narratives, and sharing their stories. She’s drawn to stories about social injustice, crime, and human interest, but with an entertainment journalism background, she also very much enjoys that as well. 12095117_995589707149432_2844932969935143495_o
She has worked as a D.C. correspondent for WATN Local 24 News, as a freelance writer for ESSENCE Magazine in New York City, and as an intern at WPRI Fox 12 in Rhode Island, among other things. Charlie has a master’s in broadcast and digital journalism from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Go Orange! Before that, she earned a bachelor’s degree in both English and public health. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Charlie has always been a leader and has a love for serving the community. 12219361_10207738422641210_4406679757395975546_n

The Vision

The Miss Côte d’Ivoire USA leadership pageant is a cultural showcase of the Ivorian heritage in the United States and Canada. The Pageant provides a platform for young Ivorian women in the diaspora to pursue their educational dreams, showcase their talent & culture, while rediscovering and taking pride in their Ivorian heritage. More importantly, participants are offered leadership opportunities to speak up for Côte d’Ivoire, by raising awareness on pertinent issues concerning the country and how Americans and friends of Côte d’Ivoire can help make a difference in Côte d’Ivoire. We encourage you to take advantage of this thrilling opportunity and become a great example of what it means to be an Ivorian woman in the diaspora. Good Luck! ad9fa0e3e739b6351dce926df9bce5c5

The Goal
The goal of the event is to showcase the Ivorian heritage in the United States and Canada. In addition, the event seeks to provide a platform for young Ivorian women in the diaspora to pursue their educational dreams, showcase their talent & culture, while rediscovering and taking pride in their Ivorian heritage. Likewise, this would be a great opportunity for Africans and friends of Africa, to network together and exchange cultures and ideas. These young girls will tackle and raise awareness on pertinent issues concerning the country and how Americans and friends of Cote D’Ivoire can help challenge these issues abroad and in Cote D’Ivoire. With that in mind we believe, M.C.I.A.L.P is more than just a beauty pageant, because not only will it challenge the intellectual beauty of these young girls, but also tackles their comportments.37e7428269b527bdded1cb9c170f36fb
