The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) we have citizenship applications and related information at the street festival on 7/15/2017.
The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) promotes the well-being of immigrant communities.
In the de Blasio administration, we have prioritized three broad goals:
enhance the economic, civic, and social integration of immigrant New Yorkers; facilitate access to justice for immigrant New Yorkers; and advocate for continued immigration reforms at all levels of government in order to eliminate inequities that impact New York’s immigrant communities.

Dear Visitor,
In his “One New York Rising Together” campaign platform, Mayor Bill de Blasio pledged to make New York City a safe and open community for all who live here, regardless of immigration status.
The work of our office is, at its heart, about inclusion. New York City’s Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs works to ensure that all immigrant New Yorkers are part of the City and have access to justice, and advocates for continued immigration reforms at all levels of government in order to eliminate inequities that impact New York’s immigrant communities. From creating a municipal ID program for all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status, to launching an immigration legal services program that provides free and safe legal support for every immigrant New Yorker in their neighborhood and in their language, as well as establishing ActionHealthNYC with the aim of creating better immigrant access to health care, our policy initiatives and programs help millions of immigrants build safer, more stable, and more economically viable lives in New York City.
The Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs is here to assist and advocate for all immigrant New Yorkers. This is our mission and our promise.
Sincerely,
Nisha Agarwal

Quality

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) releases ratings annually for Medicaid, Medicare and Commercial health plans that measure specific treatments, preventive care services and consumer satisfaction. Health plans voluntarily choose to participate in NCQA’s yearly ratings and publicly share their data, underscoring a strong commitment to transparency and open dialogue about health plan performance and improvement. Plans are rated from 0 to 5 stars in half point increments. For 2016-2017, 86 percent of our
Medicaid membership is in plans that received three or more stars in the NCQA Health Insurance Plan Ratings. Our top rated Medicaid plan is Rhode Island at 4.5 stars, while Michigan, Nebraska and New York are rated at
4 stars.

We are driving quality improvement through innovative programs that help engage and empower people to become more active participants in their own health, and by collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals to close gaps in care. We leverage best-in class technology to support effective management of internal and external teams. Additionally, we offer custom programs at the regional and local level, recognizing the unique needs of members in specific markets.
For example, our Patient-Centered Care Model provides integrated physical, behavioral and social services, coordinating care across multi-disciplinary teams to achieve better care, better long-term health and lower costs. Member engagement programs like Baby Blocks support expectant mothers and new parents with customized wellness tips, information about what to expect at provider visits, and rewards for completing appointments during a newborn’s first 15 months. Outreach initiatives such as 4-H Food Smart Families are helping families make healthy habits a greater part of their everyday lives. Through these and other quality improvements and investments, we are continuing to make the health care experience more personal, accessible and affordable.

Dear Friends:

It is a pleasure to send greetings to everyone gathered for the second annual Go Africa Harlem Street Festival, celebrating the history, legacy, and significance of African culture throughout the vibrant Harlem community.

This event provides many reasons to take pride in everything that Harlem represents -its people, businesses, institutions, and cultural resources. As a one block area of I 16th Street comes alive with the sights, sounds, and tastes of a classic street festival, all residents look forward to
the opportunity to experience the best of your community in a display of goods and services by local merchants, inspired by the African culture that is a foundation of Harlem life.

Further highlighted by the presentation of traditional African dance, music, and art, this street festival will help make local life an even richer blend of cultural and social activities, along with economic opportunities. The welcoming presence of many dignitaries, sponsors, and supporters invites the whole community to come together in spirit and shared pride. I applaud
Go Africa Network Inc. for once again bringing this event into the heart of Harlem, adding positively to the dynamics of summer life for its people.

Warmest regards and best wishes for a successful and grand street festival.

About U.S. Congressman Charles B. Rangel: Charles B. Rangel, war hero, history-making congressman, master lawmaker. A founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, he made history as the first African American member of Congress to lead the powerful Ways and Means Committee. Now serving his 23rd term in the House of Representatives, he has been cited as the most effective lawmaker in the House, leading all of his colleagues in passing legislation. He was a prime contributor to President Obama’s historic health care reform law.
Rangel
Growing up on the other side of the tracks on Lenox Avenue in Harlem, he was transformed from high school dropout to war hero after volunteering for service in the Army during the Korean War. Wounded in an attack by waves of Communist Chinese troops, he was awarded a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for Valor after leading his surviving comrades from behind enemy lines.
With the aid of the G.I. Bill, he earned degrees from New York University and St. John’s University Law School.  He began his public service as an assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and was later elected to the New York State Assembly. He came to Washington in 1971 to serve in the House after defeating the legendary Congressman Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.
In Congress, following Saint Matthew’s teaching, he has been a stalwart champion for the “least among us,” advocating powerfully and persistently to improve the lives of working people.  He is a defender of veterans and has treated education as a national security issue.
A leading advocate for equal rights and equal opportunity, Congressman Rangel has boosted the incomes of millions of working families with the Earned Income Tax Credit, and pumped billions of dollars into revitalization of communities across the nation, including Harlem. Demonstrating his commitment to education, he has created financial mechanisms to construct and rehabilitate public schools across the country.
Congressman Rangel’s unparalleled foreign policy record has focused on Africa and the Caribbean.  In 1986, he sounded the death knell for apartheid in South Africa with the “Rangel Amendment,” which forced the largest U.S. investors to abandon the country.  He has created trading and investment opportunities for struggling nations in the Caribbean and Africa. In 2010, he successfully promoted vital investment incentives for earthquake ravaged Haiti.
Among his proudest achievements is founding the Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Program in the State Department, in cooperation with Howard University.  As of 2015, most of the 200 Rangel Fellows who completed the program were serving as U.S. State Department Foreign Service Officers in U.S. Embassies around the world. Congressman Rangel still resides with his wife Alma in Harlem where he was born. They have two adult children and three grandchildren.
