We are honored again to have the support of NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio & the Office of the Mayor of NYC again for our upcoming Street Festival on 7/14/2018!
The Go Africa Carnival 2018 will take place on 07/14/2018

or email Info@GoAfricaHarlem.org or phone 646-502-9778 Ext. 8001 more information can be found at www.GoAfricaHarlem.org About Mayor Bill de Blasio
As New York City’s 109th mayor, Bill de Blasio is committed to fighting the income inequality that has created a ‘Tale of Two Cities’ across the five boroughs. Mayor de Blasio believes all New Yorkers deserve a chance to succeed in the greatest city on earth. That means every child gets a quality education, every community is safe, and every New Yorker has an affordable place to call home.
The 109th Mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio, came into office in 2014 determined to ensure that this city remains a place for everyone.
Since assuming office in 2014, the de Blasio administration has developed and executed transformative initiatives including Pre-K for All; Paid Sick Leave; neighborhood policing; IDNYC; and Housing New York, the largest, most ambitious affordable housing plan in the nation.
As the Mayor’s second term begins, crime is at historic lows and police and communities are coming together. Student test scores are up citywide and the graduation rate has never been higher. A five-borough economy has emerged, with a record number of jobs. New York is building or preserving affordable apartments at a pace not seen in decades and the city is ahead of its commitment to cut greenhouse emissions 80 percent by 2050.
But there is much more to do and Mayor de Blasio has pledged to work tirelessly to make this the fairest big city in America. This includes deepening neighborhood policing and further reducing crime; adding 3-K to our school system; increasing the original affordable housing goals by 100,000 apartments; and creating 100,000 good-paying jobs.
Mayor de Blasio will also continue to be an outspoken progressive voice on issues that touch the lives of his fellow New Yorkers, including: income inequality, early childhood education, immigration reform, infrastructure, and voting rights. These issues of basic fairness for every New Yorker have animated Mayor de Blasio’s life and career across three decades of activism and public service.
Bill de Blasio was born on May 8, 1961 in Manhattan and raised in Cambridge, MA. He is a graduate of New York University and Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. He began his career in public service in 1989 as part of David N. Dinkins’ successful and historic mayoral campaign and worked in the Dinkins Administration.
Over the next decade, Mr. de Blasio served as regional director at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; as a school board member for Brooklyn School District 15; and as head of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s historic campaign in 2000 for the U.S. Senate.
In 2002, Mr. de Blasio joined the New York City Council, representing Brooklyn’s 39th district. During his two terms, Mr. de Blasio fought to improve public education, expand affordable housing, protect tenants’ rights, and reform social services for families and children. Elected Public Advocate in 2009, he pursued fairness for tenants, taxpayers, and students.
Mr. de Blasio has been happily married to Chirlane McCray, the First Lady of New York City, since 1994. They are the proud parents of Chiara and Dante.

DA SPOT NYC has since doubled its space, and now houses over 25 local and independent designers. Most notably, DA SPOT NYC is a platform for creatives and it hosts monthly events at the Shops in collaboration with C.A.N.V.A.S RAW Art Gallery. Each event features a designer and an artist allowing for more visibility, networking and shared creativity.
In 2018, DA SPOT NYC will begin hosting group workshops for creatives and entrepreneurs looking to grow their brands. DA SPOT NYC is more than just a boutique, it is a “platform for creativity”.

We are a community-based, not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1975. CDSC began as a self-help group headed by parents to provide child care for families in the Fort Greene and Bedford-Stuyvesant sections of Brooklyn, New York. From our modest beginnings of providing the single service of on-site childcare, we have evolved into a multi-service organization that provides a wide range of services to children, youth, and families.
Since our beginning, CDSC has helped more than 20,000 families and individuals to become self-sufficient and self-reliant. We are motivated by the belief that vibrant, healthy communities start with strong, secure families.
Our unique ability to recognize and adapt to changing community circumstances and needs enables us to continually provide proactive, responsive, relevant, and quality programs and services to our clients.
Accomplishments
Our Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) program helps over 6,000 families annually to access child care information and resources, and connect them to subsidy funding to pay for their child care needs. In 2006, we received a Best Practices certification for demonstrating our competence in the field of Child Care Resource and Referral.
We help more than 3,000 individuals annually to become self-employed by establishing home-based early childhood programs through training, technical assistance and resources.
Through our partnership with the Brooklyn Outreach Center (BOC), we assist low-income child care providers to become successful entrepreneurs by providing intensive business, legal, child care skill and accounting assistance
Our Mission
The mission of CDSC is to provide programs that empower families by helping them to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for successful living in today’s society.
CDSC carries out this mission by:
Developing a community action plan that is based upon strategic planning;
Coordinating and collaborating with other community-based efforts to develop partnerships, maximize resources, and enhance existing service delivery systems;
Identifying service gaps;
Advocating for the needs of families, youth, individuals, and low income persons;
Developing services that are relevant and needed;
Leveraging funds for needed community services;
Encouraging services that are accessible, culturally sensitive, family-friendly, and responsive.
Vision
CDSC’s staff recognizes that a thriving community is measured by how well it takes care of its members, especially its most vulnerable. Together with policy makers, community members and partnerships with broad low-income representation, we ensure comprehensive support service delivery systems that promote self-sufficiency, pride and community spirit for the people in Central Brooklyn.
We pride ourselves in offering relevant quality services to the community in a caring and respectful manner. In order to maintain high standards of service, we internally practice the values that we seek to foster in the community. Those values include quality work, honesty, and mutual respect, along with teamwork and creativity in problem solving.
