Go Africa Harlem Street Festival 2016!

Location: 116th Street between 7th Ave. and 8th Ave, Harlem, New York City

In recognition and acknowledgment of the significant presence of African and African-centric merchants along the corridor of 116th street in Harlem, New York city, the Go Africa Network Inc. (a 501(C)(3) non-profit focusing on Development, Education and trade initiatives for Africa) in conjunction with in conjunction with Go Africa Health, LLC, Go Caribbean Inc, Go Africa News, LLC, Go Africa Capital Inc., ASG Global Trade Inc., & The African Union Expo, LLC. is hosting  a 1 day street festival within the boundaries of Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard (7th Avenue)  and Frederick Douglass Boulevard (8th Avenue) on 116 street on July 16th, 2016 between the hours of 10am – 7pm.

Parameters and Scope

The Street Festival will  provide cultural programing and performances while also promoting the local and regional merchants that have African centric goods and services with allotted space on 116th street from the curb in allotted parameters as prescribed by the City of New York for this event. Preference has been given to African Merchants for space during the event on a first come, first served basis. All merchants, vendors, and services entities would be required to be licensed and have valid permits by the applicable agencies in the City of New York for selling, promotion, solicitation, and delivery of their particular goods and services.

The merchants and vendors are categorized as follows:

    • Dance, Music and African Art (2 main Pavilions)
    • Food and Beverages
    • Clothing and Apparel
    • Health and Wellness Services (Medical, health, Mental, testing services)
    • Financial services (Banking, insurance, etc.)
    • City agency services (Immigration, housing, social services).

Event Location, Time, and Duration

The street festival will take within the boundaries of Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard (7th Avenue) and Frederick Douglass Boulevard (Eighth Avenue) on 116 street on July 16th  in the year 2016 between the hours of 10am – 7pm.

The Street festival is designed to promote socio-economic development, cultural awareness in the community and throughout the City of New York for the African and Caribbean local and diaspora communities, African-American, and the local community.

Music and related Festivities

The Street festival’s main arts pavilion will be hosted by the incomparable  Sekouba Diakite, Senior Artistic Director, Go Africa Network Inc and his ensemble of Talented African Artists from throughout Africa and the U.S.

DJ Henri will be on the Go Africa Stage offering his unique flavor and variety to the festival.
